Rancocas Creek’s Exemplary Maritime Cultural Landscape

Joe Leufer back in the day (may he RIP) was the BurlCo Historian. check out a copy of his steamboat voyage on the Rancocas Creek. Another acknowledged wealth of knowledge in Paul Schoop(sp) down at Stockton. The depths of the Creek’s maritime heritage anchors strong as the foundation of the heritage of South Jersey, Burlington County and Rancocas Valley communities. Fused to the heritage of NJ’s Pine Barrens National Preserve and its commerical heritage it is no wonder Stephen Girard set up shop here in Mt. Holly and the Three Tuns Tavern was an early American Admilitry(sp) Court. Where British loot was taken by Jersey Shore Privateers and sold to Philadelphia merchants based in Mt. Holly.
